Lifes Good!

Hey Yall!

This week has been really good! A lot has happened. The rain has kinda let up and now its starting to get hot again but I would rather live with that then being soaking wet all the time! I was talking with mom and was telling her its crazy just to see how much a mission can really change a person. I have looked back on where I was when I came out on my mission and now just 7 months later looking at myself and im a completely different person. A mission can change so much. I remember I couldn't in a million years prepare a good talk and give one to last maybe 10 minutes. And I cant believe im gonna say this but now you cant get me to shut up when I teach. And I feel like I can just walk up to people and without it being awkward talk about the gospel with them, which before my mission would never happen! Its so cool to see!I hope I can keep learning and growing because I still need to so much!

But this Wednesday we were able to do our bible study! It went really well. We had a couple members come, a few less active and a recent convert! And it sounded like there were some more people including non members that wanted to come last week and couldn't but were gonna come this week!:) So I hope we can continue to keep it growing! Haha we basically just had a question and answer period the whole time and talked a lot about Christ and the Atonement and also the 3 kingdoms! So it went well. We are going to start in the beginning of Luke and read about Christ birth and kinda just read about the major things that happened in Christ's Life!

We are also going to show the bible videos the church has made and put out! They are so good if yall haven't watched them I highly recommend doing so!Haha but we are gonna try and start another thing. Which is family home evening with everyone. Just have a ton of families come to the church and hold a big family home evening night. We are gonna try and get people to come regular then tell them that they can now hold it at there house. It would just kinda be a transition group to try and get members and non members alike to be with there family. Ill tell yall more about it when we start doing it. We are gonna try and start next Monday so itll be a week or so before we start. It would just kinda be a transition group to try and get members and non members alike to be with there family. Ill tell yall more about it when we start doing it. Ill tell yall more about it when we start doing it. We are gonna try and start next Monday so itll be a week or so before we start.

The other big even that happened this week was zone conference!! Holy cow it was amazing!! We had a ton of people train and teach us but just a couple things that I learned was to think of different ways to find people. To be creative with it instead of just knocking on doors. I learned to involve members to try and help find investigators for you. Which is what we are trying to implement here! I learned that we are in charge of creating the culture of our mission! Its up to us! I learned to be obedient and as you are the Lord can bless you so much for it! One thing that was cool was that the Highland Home relief society was in charge of the lunch for our conference. They had so much food and deserts! And im pretty sure I ate more than anyone there because I was just sitting there eating my 3rd plate of food and our zone leader came up to me and was just joking around with me and said," Elder Hall will you hurry up everyone is waiting for you." Then I looked up and I was the only one still eating! Haha I also had about 3 or 4 plates of desert! It was then that I realized that this area has gotten me so used to eating so dang much! haha kinda funny.

But one other really cool experience happened at zone conference. President Hanks got up to wrap the conference up and close it with some remarks. He said that he had gotten a letter in the mail from a man who had recently been baptized by some of our peers who were sitting among us. He went on to read some of the letter with us which was about a man who wasn't expected to live though a surgery but ended living. He lived 3 doors down from the missionaries and they came to teach him. They had changed his life and after a little bit he got baptized. Now im just summing up the story but as he was reading all this I was thinking to myself this sounds like Scott. The man I baptized up in Corinth. By the end of the letter I was pretty dang sure it was so afterwards went up and asked president Hanks. He said that it was!! I could not believe it!!He showed me the letter and said that he would make copies of it and get it to me! I felt so happy and proud of Scott! He is such and amazing man! I got to call him a couple weeks ago and he has gotten the Aaronic Priesthood, been to the temple and did baptisms and is the ward clerk! I could not believe it! He is doing so well! Its so cool to see how the gospel and especially Jesus Christ and the Atonement can change people! I love Scott so much and I felt so special that day that President Hanks shared that experience with all the missionaries! He is doing so well! Its so cool to see how the gospel and especially Jesus Christ and the Atonement can change people! I love Scott so much and I felt so special that day that President Hanks shared that experience with all the missionaries! He is doing so well! Its so cool to see how the gospel and especially Jesus Christ and the Atonement can change people! I love Scott so much and I felt so special that day that President Hanks shared that experience with all the missionaries!

Well with the investigators here, they are all ready, its just going to take some time. I feel like this area will start to have baptisms within the next 2-4 months! There are just some kinda weird situations with people that need to be resolved first and then everything will fall into place! I sent pics of the baby. I was so happy that I got to hold little Raylan! He was so cute and I didn't wanna give him back! Ha But we are just trying to work hard every day! Im hoping that Elder Hodge has learned something from me the past couple of weeks. We get transfer calls this Saturday and I really hope that I can stay here! I love Highland Home so much! I love the people here! They truly are my family and I have grown with them so much! So these are pictures of a woman in our branch, she had a baby last week. I asked if I could hold him. His name is Raylan and he is so dang cute! I loved being able to hold him and it really helped with my emotions. knowing that I wouldn't be able to hold either of my nephews while they were babies that were born these past few months. I was so happy that I could hold a new born!:) It was a blessing to me:)

I hope that yall have a great week! Sorry this wasn't to good of an email but im running outta time and we are busy today. I hope that yall have a great week! Remember that "The church is a hospital for sinners, not a hotel for saints!" We all need Christ's atonement! It can change even the worst of people and turn them into great sons and daughters of Heavenly Father! Its real! Christ Lives!! I love yall so much, pray for yall every night, and hope yall have a great week!

Love Elder Hall:)

Every Member a Missionary!

Hey Yall

This week has again brought so much rain!! Everyone here, including the old people in there 90's, have said they have never ever seen a summer like this with so much rain! It has literally rained non stop for the past 2 months! Haha we are going to start a branch service project and rebuild Noahs Arch cuz im pretty sure that's whats happening down here! Haha But life has been really good! This week again went by super fast! I swear I was just here writing yall yesterday.

On Tuesday we had another great district meeting. Since we have 3 new missionaries in our district I had to train on how to set up baptismal programs and how to make everything run smoothly. So this district meeting we did fake baptismal interviews and fake baptisms! It was a lot of fun. We went through different situations they you might come across with baptisms and had Elder Hodge baptize the 2 sister missionaries. And we also went through and answered questions about running the baptism program. It was great! This week im excited because we have zone conference! That's great for 2 reasons one is cuz I don't have to plan a district meeting and 2 because I love zone conferences!!!

This is what happens when we see people at night...Haha I'm really not asleep but posing for a sweet pic;)

This week has been kinda weird though. Later this week on Friday the zone leaders came down to do exchanges with us. So that kinda threw off every day before then. Plus to make matters worse everyone we tried to plan to see either didn't open there door or weren't home... I always love when that happens, it makes things really interesting haha But we managed to get through it all:) We were able to mow Dyana's lawn without here knowing. Then she put that on facebook and she was freaking out about who mowed her lawn so we had to go tell her haha but it was good:) This week has kinda just been a normal week though. We were able to go see Jerry. He isn't really progressing and doesn't know what to do with religion. We talked to him about the plan of salvation and prayer and set another baptismal date with him for October.Jenifer we tired to stop by and see a ton of times this week and weren't able to see her. We are probably going to have to set her baptismal date back because its on the 31st of this month and they still aren't married and we still haven't been able to talk with them on it. But yesterday we were able to talk with Brandon again yesterday. So he and a member of the church named Jamie are boyfriend, girlfriend. Well she was pregnant and had her baby this past week! It is so dang cute and I have only seen him once for about 2 minutes. But I wanna go back and be able to hold him. His name is Raylan. But they said I could come back and hold him so im so dang excited about that!:) I will take pics and send them to yall. But anyways back to Brandon. We have just been trying to friendship him and slowly teach him the lessons.Well we talked to him yesterday about setting a goal to be baptized and we set a date with him on Oct 5th! He seemed really excited about it! He even prays for us and his prayers are awesome! So I cant wait to see how he progresses! He is one that we are working with hard right now. And Audrey, we were able to talk with her and she wants to be baptized but doenst know when yet so we are just going to keep teaching her and having bible studies!we were able to talk with her and she wants to be baptized but doenst know when yet so we are just going to keep teaching her and having bible studies!we were able to talk with her and she wants to be baptized but doenst know when yet so we are just going to keep teaching her and having bible studies! He seemed really excited about it! We are also working a lot with less active members and fixin them back into church! But something this week that we have made a goal to do is to get members in the branch here excited about missionary work. We have been visiting a lot of them this week and talking to them about how they can get involved. We are fixing to go a couple ways with this. One is to get them to strengthen there families. Cuz a lot of families here are either part member or they have a lot of less active family. So we are telling people to start missionary work within there family. The other way we are going with it is setting up a bible study class and a movie/game night. So the bible study class we are fixin to have that every Wednesday night and we are starting this week. This is going to be more for the adults and we are hoping they will invite friends and family that are less active or not members to come as well! Im not sure how the structure of the class is going to go but ill tell yall next week! And the movie/game night we are hoping to get kids and young adults to where we would put on a church movie, or set up softball, volleyball, football game, or play games inside. And that would be for everyone as well. But we probably wont start that til September, because of school starting and football starting, we aren't sure when would be the best time to have that. Im hoping members will get involved with this and it may start really small but hopefully grow little by little. That way we are fulfilling our role as full time missionaries to help members with missionary work.Im excited to start working with the members, it will be a different type of missionary work but good non the less:)

I just want to share a little about Christ. My brother asked me who my best friend was. Well as I was thinking through the people I told him that my best friend was Jesus Christ, and told him that I was his best friend too! Ha but that should be the case for all of us! Not only should Christ be our best friend, but I know that each and every one of us our best friends to Christ. Christ lived a perfect life, not only that but was a perfect example to us. He did things that he wasn't required to do but did them to teach us and show us the way. He was also a perfect example of standing up for what he believed in. He stood alone because and for us! Elder Holland invites us to do this, "May we stand by Christ at all times, in all things and in all places that we may be in, even until death. For surely that is how he stood by us,when it was until death, and when he had to stand entirely and utterly alone." That is what we need to remember that Christ has stood by us for so long! And now we need to stand by him. We need to keep our standers high and never lower them. Stand out and be an example to the rest of this increasingly wicked world. Do and say what Christ would do and say! As we remember that we will become disciples, and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.Do and say what Christ would do and say! As we remember that we will become disciples, and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.Do and say what Christ would do and say! As we remember that we will become disciples, and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.and we will receive blessings from our efforts.

I love yall so much! I hope that yall have a great week. I have come to know that life is best when we are happy, have fun and work hard! The rest we can leave up to the Lord and he will bless us!

Hot, Hott, Hottt!

Hey Yall!

So this week has been one of if not the hottest weeks of the year here! Its still not as hot as usual, but im just glad that its not raining! Haha we have been doing a ton of biking and walking this week. Lets just say im still finding different places of my body that I didn't know could produce sweat! Haha we had decided to bike around 10-15 miles strait one day. We weren't gonna use the car at all. Well we showed up to a family in our branch house to get some water. She told us to sit on her couch and after a million times of me saying you don't want me to sit down or else ill rnrt (Ruin) your couch, she finally made me sit down. Well when I stood back up it left a huge inprint of where I sat and it was all black haha I felt so bad but she wasn't worried. Haha

This is the beautiful pizza I made by myself! Haha I'm trying to learn how to cook:)  This week was my first district meeting as a district leader... Well that means that instead of sitting there listening to the district leader talk I had to do the talking a training! Im pretty sure they are supposed to be between an hour and 2 hours long. So that's a lot to try and plan for. But we talked on finding people and different way to find in our areas! It went so well! There was never a dull moment or a moment of "uhhhh well now what?" haha I really feel like im becoming a better teacher each and every day! Also while we are on teaching, the elders quorum president called us Saturday night at like 8 and asked if we could give the priesthood lesson. Well we don't have the book which is the teachings of Lorenzo Snow. I told him that I would give the lesson and just try to make it good.Well we get to church and as priesthood starts I get up and open the book and its on serving in the kingdom! Well that was such a blessing to me because I love talking about serving and having the members be missionaries. To my surprise, without even having 30 secs of preparation I was able to give a whole 50 minute lesson! I was able to pick out scriptures and tell stories and have others input and it went well! I have gained a testimony that as I am a full time servant of the Lord, im just his mouth piece. As I let him he can talk through me to what others need to hear! It was a couple of great experiences!:)without even having 30 secs of preparation I was able to give a whole 50 minute lesson! We also were able to teach a lot of people this week! Im making sure that we are always busy and have something to do! Well on Tuesday we sat down with a couple that have been coming to church lately. Will and Jenifer. Will is a less active and Jenifer isn't a member. They have one kid named Tyler who is almost 2. We have been trying to get over and see them but they are just super busy and have weird schedules. But we were able to catch them on Tuesday night. We sat down and taught the first lesson. Usually im hesitant with inviting people to be baptized on the first lesson but I did it anyway and she said yes! So we have a baptismal date with her on Aug 31! I really hope it works out! We did find a little bump in the road though. I thought they were married, and come to find out they aren't......And she is pregnant again and finds out if the baby is a boy or girl in like 2 weeks... So now we have to go over and teach them the law of chastity, which will be loads of fun..., haha and try to get them married. There grandparents have been trying to get them to for a while so hopefully everything can work out haha. But we are also working with Audrey, who we do bible studies with, and hoping to set a baptismal date with her. And also a man named Brandon. We have taught him a couple lessons and hope to set one with him as well! Lately its been really good with investigators! We still are working with less actives but its been nice to do a little bit of both:)There grandparents have been trying to get them to for a while so hopefully everything can work out haha. The last little story I wanna share was on Saturday night we went over to a members house and ate dinner with them. Now the husband is from the south but the wife is from the Philippians! And she made us an all Philippi no dinner! It had some chicken with spices and sauce on it, the most incredible egg rolls youll ever eat, and amazing rice with like beef in it! It was so dang good! And thought of Blake while I ate it! Haha if this is what he is eating down there then he is going to weigh a ton when he comes back if he doesn't sweat it all off haha!

But I absolutely love it down here! Its starting to get to football season which will kill me because everyone is so nice and wants us all to come over to watch all the games but that would be sinning! Haha but the people are just so nice! I love the branch down here! They really all do feel like family and its gonna kill me when I have to leave! I have gotten used to being a missionary now which has been so helpful! I don't feel so stressed and frantic all the time! I love being a missionary! And I want to share something I shared in Priesthood yesterday. In John chapt 21 and in 3 nephi chapt 11. Both these chapters are after Christ is resurrected. He tells Peter to "Feed My Sheep" To go out and teach and serve and love, and also gives him authority to baptize in his name. He does the same thing with Nephi. The very first thing after He shows himself to everyone and makes sure they know who He is, is that he calls Nephi up and gives him authority and a commission to go forth to teach and baptize! That is one thing that I have forgotten in this area. Not only is it important to bring back less actives but also we need to teach and baptize. We need to find people that want the gospel! That's Christs same commission to us today! Our baptismal covenant is to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ. To do what he would do and say what he would say. He wants everyone to have the blessings of the gospel! So just remember to try and find someone who needs the blessings that the restored gospel can bring them:)is that he calls Nephi up and gives him authority and a commission to go forth to teach and baptize! Miracles do Exist!!!!

Hey Yall!

So this week was so dang good!! It was so busy and I feel like I have ran around all week! Haha ever since I have become a trainer and District Leader I have not been able to stop thinking a running around haha but its been really good to stay busy!

This week I have been trying to get my Elder, that's what I tell everyone he is haha, out walking and biking! Haha so we have done a ton of that lately especially biking! Which is funny how much I have changed. I remember being in his shoes and having my trainer just leave me in the dust. Well I have done that sometimes then I have to stop and wait for him to catch up. But he will get better at it as we keep biking! Haha but this week weather wise has only rained one day which I thought I was gonna die! It felt like a hurricane! We had just gotten under a porch and the family wasn't there. So we were gonna head back out until it started down pouring and flashes of lightning, then not even a sec later huge BOOMS of thunder!! And the wind picked up! So we just sat under the porch for like 15-20 minutes waiting for it to pass.

Here is the frog that Karah and Winston shot. Winston shot 4-5 frogs then we cut up the legs and I had fried frog legs! They were super good!:)

But this week I was planning to have district meeting on Friday. I had prayed and thought about what to train on. I didn't feel to certain but at the same time the thought just kept coming to train on finding people. So this whole week I have been reading out of preach my gospel and just getting it all ready. Well about 2 days before our meeting the zone leaders texted everyone saying zone training will be on that day. So I had to reschedule our district meeting. Then at zone training all they talked about was finding people and how pres Hanks is stressing that for this month! Well they took everything that I was gonna train on haha it was funny, cuz I just sat there and couldn't believe it! They were stealing everything from me! Haha but at the same time is was good cuz now I know that im supposed to train my district on finding people:) But at zone training I also felt that the whole thing was for me and it basically rebuked me and told me to be a better missionary and trainer and district leader! We learned a lot about not being afraid but having faith! And I have struggled with that the beginning of this week. It has been so hard to try and do things by myself. To plan every day who to see and make sure that we are busy every moment seeing people and making sure my trainer is doing well and just all that. But now I know that miracles do exist!! Every day we have been able to see people and stay busy! We have walked and biked and on Saturday we even did a little bit of tracting! That's something ive never done before! And the miracle is that most of our goals that we made for this week we not only made them but exceeded them! And we had more lessons this week then I have ever had on my mission! I was so excited and my testimony grew to know that Heavenly Father watches out for each one of us and helps us through any little thing we are having trouble with!

My frog legs on my dinner plate!:) So I mentioned that we did a little bit of tracting on Saturday. Well we went down to a little town that's about 18 miles south of our apt. Its called Luverne. Missionaries has tracted that town over and over since its the only place to tract here. Well I figured even though people have tracted in the past we are new so we can start over. I had no idea where to go, so we prayed and I just let the spirit guide me. Now I don't know if yall remember my past tracting events. Well im not very good at it. Usually when I tract doors don't even open. Well we went out with faith. The first couple of doors didn't open and I thought, "Man this is gonna be a long day, its gonna be just like the past." Then the 3rd house we knocked on they opened up and they weren't interested but they were super nice and we talked for a little bit then gave them a Mormon.org card. Well I decided to go to a different area just because I felt like that was the person we needed to see on that road. We we biked a little further and I saw an apt complex so we stopped there. Well we were able to see so many different people there and talk and give blessings on homes and we actually gave a blessing to a lady who was going to have surgery. Haha and just like a typical southern black lady while we were giving her the blessing she would mumble, "Thank you Lord Jesus! O yes Jesus!" And things like that haha it kinda freaked Edler Hodge out but it was funny haha:) Well Elder Hodge actually said yesterday that he cant wait to go back and see those people again and check up on them! I know that Heavenly Father let us see those people to teach Elder Hodge that tracting is a good way to find people and get him excited to find!

But ya I have just been so happy ever since the zone training. That really got me refocused on missionary work and the missionary I should be. I feel like this transfer will be really good! Elder Hodge is doing great! He has a lot of good experiences. And I feel like he is starting to fit in! But I want to share one more quick experience that happened yesterday. So our branch has been working really hard on trying to get an addition to our building. And they had 2 options. A smaller one and a bigger one with a multi purpose room and things like that. Well everyone was scared we were gonna get a smaller addition that wouldn't really help to much. But yesterday they finally got the final ok to get the big addition. It is a huge historic moment in this branch!! They were all so happy! We had a special fast and testimony meeting. And to add on top of it a man that has influenced to many different people by being the district president and branch president was able to come to church with his wife. It was the first time in almost a year. He was able to bear such a strong testimony and that will probably be his last. He is going to be turning 89 and his health is really decreasing.

The whole meeting was just so spiritual! I got up to bear my testimony and want to share a couple of things. One is that im so grateful to be here on a mission. What a great blessing that is! And I love it down here! I love the people here so much! They really feel like my family!! I will be sad when I have to leave this area. But I also know that Families are forever! That miracles to happen now in this day just as much as the bible days! I know that Joseph Smith through Christ restored the church back on the earth. He didn't do it to tear down other churches, but he did it to help families come together and to help every find true happiness and peace! That's what this gospel does, It helps people find happiness and peace. I know Heavenly Father is our literal Father! He loves us and knows each one of us personally! Even though we go through trials doesn't mean he leaves us. He trusts in us that we can make it through and learn and grow into the great Children he thinks we are! I want all yall to remember who you really are! I Am A Child Of God! What a great statement! I know and testify of all these things to be true! In the name of my Savior Jesus Christ Amen.

I love yall! Stay happy each day!! Remember who yall are! Have a great week!

Changed, Stunned, A New Man

Hey Yall! So this week has been so good, and bad at the same time! It was defiantly the fastest week ive ever had in my life! The weath...
